Ep 111 Lenten Listening Series // John 17 // The Praying
In this episode of the Lenten Listening Series, we dive into the beautiful and powerful prayer that Jesus offers in John 17. This longest recorded prayer from Jesus, prayed on the night before His crucifixion, offers intimate insight into His heart for His disciples and for all believers. He prays for unity, protection, and a deeper connection with the Father, showing us how we can be united with God and each other.
Key Quotes (The Voice Translation):
- “Father, my time has come. Glorify your son, and I will bring you great glory.” (John 17:1)
- “May they all be one. As you are in me and I am in you, may they be in us.” (John 17:21)
- “I have glorified you on earth and fulfilled the mission you set before me.” (John 17:4)
Personal Reflection Questions:
- Jesus prays that we may be one with Him and the Father. What does it mean for you to be “one” with God in your daily life?
- How can you allow the mystery of divine connection to deepen your sense of purpose and calling?
- Jesus knew His purpose and boldly declared, “I have finished the work you gave me to do.” Do you feel clear on the work God has given you? How can you live more intentionally in that purpose today?
As you listen and reflect on these profound words, take time to journal your thoughts and allow God to reveal deeper truths to you. Let this prayer become a living part of your journey as you seek unity with God and each other.
