“Tired of running on spiritual peppermint mochas and sugar cookies during the holidays? Here’s your invitation to sit down- or even grab a to go – meaty, nutritious spiritual meal.”

Are you feeling the weight of the holiday hustle?

The endless to-do lists, the tangled emotions, the pressure to curate the “perfect” celebration? You’re not alone. The holiday season can often feel more chaotic than comforting, more weary than wonderful.

What if, amidst the chaos, an invitation awaited you?

An opportunity to trade exhaustion for rest, stress for peace, and pressure for the presence of God?

In this heartfelt and honest devotional, the author reflects on the beauty and struggles of the holiday season, weaving personal stories—including the adoption of her children right before Christmas—with timeless spiritual truths. Through the lens of Mary, the young woman chosen to bring the Light of the world into our own tangled, chaotic world, you’ll find an invitation to surrender, trust, and experience the profound peace that only Jesus can bring.

Meet the author

My name is Megan!

Kingdom Life Coach

I’ve loved to write for as long as I can remember. I made up fantastical worlds of star-crossed lovers in war torn Ireland and imagined life as a homesick soldier hiding in a fox hole. Mr. Jones inspired me in sophomore English when he crowned me the winner of a short story contest!

When I graduated from high school, I wanted to be a broadcast journalist. Of course, I was afraid of the possible catastrophe inclement weather could bring, but I charted a course anyway. I applied to the number one journalism school in the country! And… I didn’t get in. I was crushed. No matter, however, I was about to embark on a life-changing gap year as an exchange student in Spain which was a formative experience that fundamentally grew my spirit and soul.

When I returned to the States I attended a small, private liberal arts college and studied Romance languages. (Sounds dreamy doesn’t it? I can’t complain that I studied abroad three times in three years!) Those travels subsided for a time after I married the love of my life, journeyed with him through parachurch ministry, and ultimately expanded our family through adoption.

At the time, I did what all mid-2000s moms did. I started a blog. I figured it would be a reporting medium to share with friends and family about all things adoption. Home study updates. Logistics. Travel itineraries. I didn’t realize it would rapidly evolve into my own form of therapy as I tried to make sense of disappointments, confusion, and God’s hand in trauma. The more I wrote, the more I came alive.

After enough people asked if I had ever thought about writing a book, I threw my hat in the ring and published my first book in 2015. The experience of writing captivated my attention like nothing else! I didn’t know if I would write again, but I listened to the Holy Spirit and He directed my steps to write the second offering* in 2023. Will there be more? Stay tuned and stay connected with me. There will possibly, probably…definitely be more to come!

*I’m humbled to announce that this book won the Xulon Press Christian Author Awards for best submission in the Christian Living category.
