Ep 162 // Responding to Hurt Without Losing Yourself | Romans 12:14-21

Someone else’s hurtful behavior may wound you, but it does not have to determine who you become.

In the fifth and final installment of the Authentic Faith Summer Formation Series, we conclude Romans 12 with one of Paul’s most challenging invitations: bless those who hurt you, pursue peace, release revenge, and overcome evil with good.

This is not passive Christianity. It is not ignoring evil, abandoning boundaries, or staying in unsafe relationships. It is the Spirit-led decision to refuse to let another person’s sin shape your character.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  1. What it really means to bless those who hurt you
  2. Why rejoicing with others interrupts comparison
  3. How to mourn with people without trying to fix them
  4. The difference between justice and revenge
  5. What “as far as it depends on you” means for peace and reconciliation
  6. Why boundaries and biblical love can coexist
  7. How to leave justice in God’s hands
  8. What it means to overcome evil with good

Paul reminds us that evil wins when it reproduces itself in us. But through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can respond with truth, wisdom, love, and integrity.

Reflection Questions

  1. Where am I tempted to repay evil with evil—even subtly?
  2. What offense am I repeatedly rehearsing in my mind?
  3. What would it look like to bless this person without minimizing what happened?
  4. Have I confused peacemaking with people-pleasing?
  5. What is genuinely mine to do in this relationship?
  6. Is God inviting me to apologize, set a boundary, have a conversation, or release the outcome?
  7. What is one concrete way I can overcome evil with good this week?
